"Sweet Redemption" This is what I felt after I finished the 7th marathon in 7 days. I had tried this feat last year, but failed in my attempt. For a year, I've been wanting my chance to succeed. It was hard, and I had blisters, generally sore feet, swollen legs, and fatigue. But I made it through.
For the last several miles on Sunday, I felt emotion well up as I realized I was about to achieve my goal. I talked to my fiance who passed away in 1994, and who believed in my running ability more than I did. I forgot the pain and was able to actually speed up a bit. The finish line was glorious!
Now, on Tuesday, I'm still sore and recovering, but oh how sweet the feeling of achievement. There's nothing to compare with the pride I feel. I did it! You can't get that feeling unless you attempt something difficult--difficult enough that you aren't sure if you can do it. Then the satisfaction is so sweet!
